So, my friend Amy says we should write a joint blog. Got no idea how to do that. I figure it out. And here we are. She wants me to start. Here we go.
Been thinking about something. Who is that decided bobble head dolls were a good marketing tool? Really! I remember bobble head chihuahuas sitting in the back windows of a few cars when I was a kid. It was kind of interesting watching them, I suppose. But, when they started making bobble head dolls of baseball players and the like to promote them a few years back, I thought it a bit strange. Has anyone EVER seen a bobble head doll that actually LOOKS like the person it's promoting? They're freaky looking. And then there's miniature bat night at the ball games. Why? They're too small for use as even a T-ball bat. I don't know. Do we need anymore decorative crap? Plastic bouncing heads. Miniature sluggers to display. Where does it end?
I agree Melanie. There is no use what so ever for a bobble head doll. I mean really, have you ever seen a cute one? As for the mini bats, they are provided just in case a fan from the opposing team is seated in front of you. When they boom the home team, whack em in the head!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to talk about one of my favorite topics: Going to and shopping in the grocery store. First of all, when pulling in the parking lot, if you are not handicapped, please there is no need to circle around the lot like a vulture, or hold up the entire aisle waiting on that prime parking spot. Park a little bit farther out and walk. I'm guessing you could use that walk.
When you get in the store, for heavens sake, if you see Sally May from the trailer park, the two of you do not need no block the entire aisle talking about whose husband treed the biggest coon. I mean, can't ya do that over the clothesline.
Another thing that I just love is when the person in front of you in the "express lane" has about fifty items in their basket. Can you count?
Take it away Mel..............
The other thing I love is ending up in the grocery store the day AFTER they recharge the WIC and LoneStar Cards, worthy programs for some folks no doubt. But, when I'm shopping with my hard-earned dollars and buying generic mayonnaise, for God's sake, and the person in front of me is paying for rib eyes with a LoneStar card, I'm more than a little irritated.
ReplyDeleteI'll save my commentary on check-out personnel for a future date. Aye-yi-yie! Oh, oh, oh! Wait! Grocery store on geriatric Tuesdays. Holy crap that's entertaining! If you're not in a hurry, that's good for a half-day worth of laughs. I know, I'll be old one day, too. I love watchin' too old women discuss when the bread was baked (like it came from the back of the store).
Or watch 'em haggle with the checker over whether it was 57¢ or 59¢ a pound for bananas. YIPES!!! I know, I know.... but you NEED the bananas for the postassium. Helps the old man's muscle cramps. (No! No! Too much information, Gertrude!) I get it. I wanna hand 'em a nickel and tell 'em to move on with life.
Or the sacker who insists on carrying out three sacks of groceries and throws them in the back of the Suburban and stands there waiting for a tip. I hand him a dollar and he looks at me for at least a minute, as if to say, "This is all?" DUDE! It was THREE piss-ant bags!!!! I'm generous when I'm buying basketfuls of crap. But, c'mon. I was gonna carry 'em myself in the first place!!!
Okay, your turn, Amy................
Yep, Mel, the WIC thing drives me nuts. I've learned to spot them in the checkout line. Look for a young woman, oh say 25 yrs or so with 15 freakin kids and a basketful of baby food, peanut butter, bread, milk and eggs. If ya get behind that, RUN to the next line. I have so many pet peeves about the dang grocery store, that I can't remember them all. One that I didn't forget was Manners. Jeez, I was always taught than when you walk in front of someone perusing the shelves, you shoud say, "Excuse me." I know I do. I usually get this look like, "Hey, why do you have two heads?"
ReplyDeleteNext on deck, driving...................
